The idea of Shra1 (pronounced as shra-one) came to us out of our own lived experience. As professionals working outside the country and our home city, we constantly worried about how our aging parents were navigating today's digital world (beyond the FaceTime calls and Whatsapp forwards).

We found ourselves trying hard to make their life convenient from afar but ended up feeling as if this was only making them more dependent on us. Apps for everything that one might need may work for digitally literate generations but were a headache for parents to navigate. Add to it the prevalent news of fraud and swindles, and parents were loath to even try learning to transact online or pick up unknown numbers. Essentially, there was a trust deficit building and, worse, it was impacting their quality of life.

That is when we decided to build a solution for our families first. A single number where they could call and let our team know what they wanted, and we would get it done for them. Be it calling a cab, booking a ticket, sending medicines or even reminding them to take medicines, everything would be done by us by simply speaking to a real human, who spoke to them like their own child.

As others heard of this, we expanded our services and team to help more seniors. Soon, we were supporting more than a hundred seniors and helping them live their lives to the fullest.

With Shra1, our aim is to give elders back their agency to live their lives as they wish with independence. Our most prized metric is the average increase in happiness in the lives of the elders we support.
